25% will be donated

Follow me on Instagram  Here's my Etsy Shop

Awhile back I had to get a biopsy done and it was a scary experience. So many thoughts ran through my head while impatiently waiting for my results. Thankfully it was benign. A few weeks later I found out that my aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer. That was a real shock to me because there is no family history of it. It really broke my heart to hear that. I may not know exactly how it feels to be in her position, but having gone through waiting for biopsy results is something that I will never forget. I still worry about to this day. You just never know because it can happen to anyone even without a family history. Because of this, I would like to sell my handmade plushes (no sewing machine involved) and donate 25% of the proceeds to Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the rest will cover shipping & handling, and the left over will be saved for my art fund. The plushes are made from craft felt fabric. There's Westy (gray bear, loves to travel) and Scout (brown bear, loves to explore) who were characters I created in 2009, and Penny (the coolest and sweetest golden retriever that I know) in 2015. So if you would like to help support Breast Cancer Research Foundation, send PayPal to hicahu5@gmail.com and add in the “notes” your address and which plush you would like. $20 for Westy or Penny and $15 for Scout. I will also add some pins. If you want to purchase through Etsy, you may do so also, link above :)

Happy Late New Year EVERYONE! Hope you all had a great 2015 and a happy start to 2016! So far, for me, it's been okay.. not so great, but even if i feel this way, I just gotta keep moving and not think so much on personal problems. Anyways, down below are the first two drawings I did for this New Year. I drew Jedi Westy because the new Star Wars movie inspired me to do it. YES! I really love the movie! It's so awesome and can't wait for the next one! Below Jedi Westy.. I drew myself staring into the sunset because I was feeling down. This year I want to draw more and spiffy up my drawing skills. So stay tune for more ^___^

It's that time of the year again.... Designer Con. I am excited and happy to do this once again and will be sharing the booth with Katherine Stocking Lopez. I may look super exhausted only because I have been working the graveyard shift. It has worn me out, so I will give my all for the 2 days. My husband will be opening up for me while I'm stuck with downtown LA traffic, but I forgot it's a Saturday so i'm hoping my commute back home is a somewhat smooth one. Alrighty, till then... see you tomorrow!

Pictures below are what I will have. My super limited amount is the Yeti (5), Penny(9) and Sasquatch(4) plushes. I also have plushes from last year which is Westy, Scout, Giant Robots Evil and Good. If you buy the Giant Robot plushes be sure or if you want you can tell Eric how awesome they are hahaha They will be at booth #100.

This year, I helped Eric, for the second time, and it was my husbands first time. I've always told him that I wish Giant Robot was just a bit closer to home, I would be out there volunteering myself to help out. One day I'll move closer to LA and it won't be nothing but a chicken wing drive LOL, what the heck did I just say >_____<  ?!?!?! Anyways, I'm looking forward to helping and contributing in 2015. I'd also like to add that there were so many great post-its! I'm really honored to be up there with talented artists!

Designer Con Thoughts

Saturday- I woke up around 5, got ready, paced around, woke up my husband, Corey, to get ready and left around 7am.  As I entered, the convention, I had a nervous and very happy feeling inside; I was and am really proud of myself for having the courage to do this and sharing my artwork with different people. As I was setting up my table it was probably an hour and a half away before opening, I literally was trembling a bit because I was a bit insecure of my artwork and showing it off for the first time, it was hard for me to be at ease because I have never done this and I was thinking of the reactions I might receive. After the doors finally opened and people started walking by, I felt so happy because I saw so many people smile; and that was my goal with my artwork, to make people smile even if it was just for that one second. I had a lot of "cute" compliments. The one that made me say "whoa" to myself was when a lady said that my plushes look manufactured. All the plushes that I made are 100 % handmade by me, no sewing machine involved. Then a man said that he purchased my SDCC Giant Robot plushes in 2013, and I guess his questioned was answered to see who was making them. He told me he liked the quality of my plushes. Just with all the compliments and feedback that I received I can't say Thank You enough. It really means a lot to me that people like my artwork. Oh, and what also made me smile was seeing men smile, as well! ^____^

My neighbor Jose Cabrera, is a really nice guy, he has great artwork too, and I actually did my first art trade ^___^ He told me some great advice and it will be with me forever. Thanks Jose!

6pm came by so quick! I just wanted to stay and see people smile.^___^

Sunday- I felt more at ease, not too nervous as I was on Saturday. Once again, a lot of smiles and compliments. I had a nice conversation with one of my customers, talking about Cons and a bit about my artwork. I was actually nervous, not sure why, but I am happy that he liked my artwork. He even emailed me today telling me he enjoyed meeting and talking with me! If you're reading this Mark, THANKS AGAIN! ^___^

I did hold a raffle for Westy, buttons, a necklace and charm. Somehow the person who retrieved it wasn't the one who actually got the ticket from me, I'm guessing it was her friend,? She was nice to get it for her though and come back to tell me that it wasn't her. I was able to take a picture of the actual winner.. pictured below. I like her hat. ^____^ To the lady who helped make sure she got the raffle prize ^____^ you rock!

A guy who was probably from Japan, still stuck in my head, bought Scout. It's exciting to know that Scout will be exploring a different land, hahahaha.

The highlight of Designer Con, was when this girl looked at Scout and could not keep her eyes off of it. She was asking her parents that she wanted it, but I didn't know what was going on, all I knew that she did not want to leave without Scout, I couldn't bare to look at her because she seemed a little frustrated about something, but in the end she was able to take Scout home, and I'm happy that she liked him a lot! So if you're reading this, thank you so much. Seeing you smile and determination of getting him makes me happy and humbled.

I also want to say thanks to Eric Nakamura, owner of Giant Robot. He is my BIG BOSS! He's allowed me to make his logos into plush form and I'm happy that I'm able to make them. SO THANKS, DUDE! ^___^

Overall, I enjoyed Designer Con. It's given me an opportunity to share my art and just be out there. As Jose told me, if you don't put yourself out there, then who will?  I also want to say big thanks to my husband for pushing me to do this.

There's probably a lot that I missed... but just know that I'm so thankful to meet everyone of you, and thank you for all the comments, compliments, etc ^____^
