2012

2012 was a good year. I worked 6 months at GMD (Grant McCune Designs Inc.) Corey and I bought a new car on May 4(th be with you). Bought my first bicycle at a really great deal! Took a plane trip up to Bremerton, Washington to celebrate the birthday of my cousin, Rosanne and nephew, Nathan. The bonus was seeing all my relatives and surprising them with the help of my Uncle Romel and Auntie Desiree hehehehe, I'll never forget it! Saw my cousins Jenny and Mark, after 7 years! The trip to Yerington, NV was great! I went to an actual farm and that was a fun experience! I finally met Valerie at Biennale 3! I'm happy to be part of Ugly Nation where people have great imagination and are still kids at heart ^___^ . To Uglydoll, Thanks for bringing my life full of happiness, when I'm feeling down, I just look at any character and it puts a smile on my face! ^___^ . I Made 5 Giant Robot plushes and I will make a few more after New Years. I made some Uglydoll customs! I turned 28 on Dec. 1st. Then there were two great and wonderful people whom I've known that has passed away, but did not meet, Scarlet Grey Nebril and Jennifer Rachel Neill. It's taught me not to take life for granted, to live each day to the fullest, have a lot more patience and don't sweat the little things in life that are completely nonsense. I know it may sound cliché, but it's true! A lot of people seem to forget about it. We all only live once , so let's make the best of it! So yeah, I think I've pretty much summed up 2013 and I have my list of things to do already. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE ^___^

Giant Robot Plushes

Back in 2009, I wanted to surprise Eric with his logo robots in plush form. I told Martin and Eric to decide which one to keep. Martin chose the red one, and Eric the the other. I guess a few weeks after comic con, I made Eric another red robot.

3 years later, he requested me to make some for him. So, I did, and there they are in the pic. I also made tags to go along with them.

Anyways, these were tough to make by hand. If only I would get some motivation for myself to learn how to use a sewing machine, I can whip out a bunch of these.

Etsy Shop

My Etsy shop is now open ^__^ http://www.etsy.com/shop/hicahu  You are probably wondering what does "hicahu" mean? Well I couldn't get hch5, hch05, or hch as a shop name because they were all taken =(. HICAHU is pronounced He-ka-who, which is basically the first two letters of my first, middle, and last name.

Banner

This will be a part of my Etsy banner.

Pumpkin

A D.I.Y figure that I sculpted into a pumpkin head. I'm happy the way this turned out. I don't have any sculpting experience, but I pulled through and still have so much to learn.

About Me

It's always hard to write or tell someone "about me."

-For starters, I have been drawing since I was 5 yrs. old. There was a point in my life where I stopped drawing and got into basketball. When I was about 10 yrs. old I went back into drawing because one of my classmate inspired me. I was thinking if he can do it then I can do it too. So, I would sketch and sketch in my free time up until now. I would say my skills still needs a lot of improvement, but I am getting there slowly.

-Right now my medium is watercolor. I have had so many trial and errors and I think I finally got the hang of it, but there is so much more to learn about this medium. I'm also getting into customizing DIY figures. It's tough but fun!

-My most favorite artists are David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim, creators of Uglydoll.

-Other artist I also admire is Simone Legno, Vanessa Ramirez, Mari Inuakai, Chris Ryniak, Valerie Gudell(she inspired me to do DIY figs.), Rob Sato (love his watercolor paintings), Dan Goodsell, Debbie Huey, Jack Edjourian( my co-worker who I bow down to) and a whole bunch more that I can't even think of right now.

-My art is aimed towards people of all ages.

-It brings me great happiness when people smile at my artwork and I too, find myself smiling.

-I appreciate for all the support and fans who have stuck with me on day 1. Even though my art has been kinda slow you guys are always there waiting to see what I come up with next and that is what I'm thankful for, for never leaving my side ^___^ It is what keeps me going.

-To the new fans: Welcome ^____^

-That's about it for now, till then thanks for hopping on board with me and my adventures.

DIY

I bought this DIY at michaels for .99 cents. I use super sculpey to sculpt a pumpkin head. Right now it's on hold because I wanted to airbrush colors onto it, but unfortunately there is a missing part on the air compressor. So stay tuned! ^___^

San Diego Comic Con 2012

I enjoyed SDCC 2012 a lot this year! I saw a lot of new artist, and it made me think that, if they can do it I can do it. I have no clue what is holding me back. I have been busy with a lot of stuff, and hope to get back into improving my art real soon!

As always the Uglydoll booth is my favorite place to go to! I wish I can hang out there all day, but I don't want them to think that I'm an obsessed fan..haha. I just really love Uglydoll, it makes me feel all happy, and all my problems just disappear.
